Meet Your Instructor
A dancer since the age of three, Karen has over thirty years of dance training and performance experience. Her training includes ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, modern and hip hop styles. Her love of dance continued past competing as a child through university and beyond. She performed with Orchesis Dance Society in Edmonton for twelve years. As she grew her family, Karen left the dance world to become a group fitness instructor. She is a certified Canfitpro Group Fitness Specialist and holds Active Aging and Understanding a Fit Pregnancy certifications.
Dancing brings Karen so much joy and she hopes to share that with all her participants. She lives in Edmonton with her husband and three beautiful girls.

Frequently Asked Questions
Each class begins with a warm-up to prepare your body, followed by dance-inspired movements that combine cardio and strength training. We finish with a cool-down and stretch. Classes are energetic, fun, and set to great music!
Make sure to wear comfortable clothes. You can choose to wear running shoes or go barefoot. A yoga mat for the end of class is nice but not necessary. Don't forget your water!
Modifications for more intense or difficult movements will always be demonstrated. You will be encouraged to listen to your body and only do what is safe and comfortable for you. As long as you're grooving to the beat, we're happy! We celebrate what we can do and have fun doing it!
Not at all! All levels of dance and coordination are welcome! The choreography is developed to be easy for beginners to follow and interesting and fun to keep more experienced dancers engaged.
Participants often say they are so engrossed in the movement and music that they forget they are working out! Dance is great for increasing fitness levels, balance and flexibility. It's also excellent exercise for your brain.
The physical and cognitive benefits from dance-inpsired workouts are obvious. The mental and emotional aspects are also huge! When we move in-sync to music with others, we lose our sense of self and enter a flow state. This helps build connection and foster joy. Getting to this point is our ultimate goal.
